Listen to Your Body

Wed. Nov 5, 2026

This morning, I was all ready to attempt a 21 minute treadmill workout that included:

5 minute brisk walk in the beginning and end, with four :30 jogging intervals (10-12 minute pace) and three 1:00 jogging intervals. With 1:00 minute brisk walk between each jogging interval.

Instead, my back was aching a bit while doing the elliptical and I decided it would be best to just complete a 20 minute elliptical workout through the streets of Santiago and Valparaiso, Chili and get an abdominal work out in followed by a stretching session in the hot tub. I will ready for the planned workout tomorrow.

It reminds me of the past experiences I have had running and working out. How, I often set goals that were unrealistic leading to injury and loss of performance. Even at these very early stages of my running and health journey, I need to listen to my body. And to God that makes it all very clear.

From a dietary standpoint, I am doing great. The weekly fasts (43 hours the past two weeks) have forced me to eat smaller portions. And, to make sure the foods I do ingest are nutrient dense. This has helped me save money at the grocery store. Now, I’ll have four almonds. 🙂
